Southern Aluminum Finishing Company of Atlanta announces a new era in specifying aluminum finishes. For many, specifying aluminum finishes is a difficult task, requiring references to the specifications of many unrelated trade associations. Architects find the plethora of aluminum finishingspecifications confusing at best. Southern Aluminum Finishing designed their designation system to simplify the specifying process, while maintaining the quality of finish suitable for commercial building. Specifiers design their buildings to last a very long time, and SAF engineers their finishes to last. It makes no sense to apply inferior finishes to aluminum to cut costs: an aluminum finish is typically less than 1% of a project's cost, but can be 100% of its appearance.

The most durable finishes in the designation system are named "SAFINISH." When specifiers call for SAFINISH, the resulting finish has the longest expected lifetime of any available for aluminum. SAFINISH coatings are only available on aluminum, because aluminum is the only metal with the longevity and resistance to corrosion equal to the quality implied by the SAFINISH designation.
