When will my material ship?
Southern Aluminum Finishing Company provides an estimated lead-time and ship date for each quote. Your material should ship on or before this estimated date. We usually ship orders for material in stock the next business day. Orders requiring anodizing or sawing will normally ship the next business day. Painted or powder coated orders will ship in two or three weeks. return to top
Does SAF have a minimum or maximum order amount? There is no minimum qty here at SAF. You can order one piece. Painted or powder coated aluminum can present special problems so contact a SAF Customer Consultant for assistance if you require painted material.
We do not include the freight in our prices until you buy 100 lbs. For one piece the freight will probably be a lot more expensive than the metal.
Shipping something more than 8' long can create problems unless we ship to a commercial loading dock. If we can use LTL the cost is minimal, but it can be astronomically expensive to ship to a residential address unless you get it down under 96" so that we can ship UPS. return to top
How will my order ship?
SAF will pay for freight on orders more than 100 pounds within the continental United States. Depending upon the shipping address, we will ship your material via Averitt, Roadrunner, or ABF Freight. We can ship smaller extrusion orders via UPS. However, shipping via UPS will require cutting so you must adjust the lengths of your order to accommodate the UPS size restrictions. How can I track my order's progress?
You can track your order using our Customer Service site at http://www.saf.com/safmetal.html. If you give us a fax number we will fax you an order ackowledgement, or send it U.S mail if you prefer. At the top of your acknowledgement, you will find a login and password. Use this login and password to enter our Customer Service site and track your order. return to top
Do I need a user name and password to gain access to SAF's website?
There are two levels of access on our secure servers. First level is that you must register at https://walden.saf.com/safcustomerweb/login/newcustomer.asp to see our sheet and extrusion pricing. That page should present itself the first time you try to access our sheet and extrusion store.
The second level is used for viewing the status of existing orders. Customers are assigned a user_name and password when you place an order. You will receive these credentials on your order acknowledgement that we fax or mail. return to top
How do I arrange to return material back to SAF?
Simply contact one of our Customer Consultants at 1-800-241-7429. They will be happy to help you arrange for a return. A restocking fee may apply unless the order is defective. return to top

Can I get Open Account credit terms and have SAF bill me?
Our site currently does not accommodate online credit approval. To open an account, contact one of our Customer Consultants at 1-800-241-7429 and they will fax you a credit application. If your credit application is approved, you will be made a ?Net 30? account and your payment will be due to SAF within 30 days from the date of your invoice. Please note that the credit application approval process could delay your order several days. return to top
When is my payment due if I am a ?Net 30? account?
You will be sent an invoice after your order ships. Your payment is due in full within 30 days from the date of the invoice. Payment instructions can be found with your invoice, or contact a SAF Customer Consultant for assistance. return to top
How can I cancel or change my order after it has been placed?
Your order will be processed soon after it is received from the Customer Service site. After your order is entered into our system, we will send out an order acknowledgement and forward the order paperwork to our warehouse for processing. Is it safe to use my credit card on SAF?s Customer Service site?
The confidentiality and security of your credit card and ordering information is assured by the use of the Secure Sockets Layer or SSL technology. SSL is the Internet standard for the transmission of private information. It uses the highest level of encryption available to the public and is more secure than most other methods consumers use for credit card payments such as telephone and in-store purchases. SSL is based on 128-bit encryption. The security of our servers is certified by Verisign, the Secure Server Certification Authority of RSA Data Security, Inc. You can verify that you are in a secure area by looking at the key or padlock icon in the bottom left corner of your browser?s window. Finishing (anodizing and painting) customer?s metal can be a complex task that requires a high degree of sales consultation and discussion, something that is not easily handled over the Internet. To offer our customers the highest level of service possible, we suggest that you contact one of our Customer Consultants at 1-800-241-7429 for a toll finishing quote. Almost every custom fabrication job is unique. SAF has employees who are dedicated to our custom fabrication business. Most SAF custom fabrication orders require significant interaction between our Project Managers and our customers. How does SAF handle the security of my information?
SAF recognizes the proprietary nature of your firm's business with us. Your account information is held in utmost confidence. All activity with this site is encrypted so as to make traffic with this site unreadable to persons who may try to intercept this traffic.
The name and password combination for each order is unique and will expire 60 days after the order is entered. This name/password combination may be obtained from the upper right hand corner of our shop order acknowledgement which is mailed to you when your order is entered or by contacting your sales consultant to obtain the password. return to top
How does the SAF Customer Service site work?
When item information is entered into the SAF Customer Service site, a quote is automatically created and stored in our database. When an order is placed, the SAF system will turn the quote into a sales order and our sales department is notified. The sales department will then review the sales order and give it to the SAF order entry department to create a shop order. Once the shop order is entered, order acknowledgements are sent out and shop copies are printed and sent immediately to the warehouse for processing. This whole process from quote to acknowledgement should take no longer than a few hours. return to top |
